Why Singapore Can Be the Biggest Runway for Drone Services?

With the ever increasing aerial photography, videography and surveying in the nation, Singapore is going to be the biggest hub of drone services.

Commercial drone services are on the way to become the full-fledged industry in Singapore, thanks to the increasingly popular aerial photography, videography and surveying in the nation. Besides, drone services have been economical over the recent years, making them accessible to the businesses of every size.

The service providers of drone photography and videography have claimed that they have witnessed 20 per cent to 50 per cent year-on-year growth as they are receiving lots of projects. On the other hand, The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), a regulatory body of drones in Singapore, unveiled that they have been submitted with over 1,000 applications for operator and activity permits since June last year. And 87% of those applications were for the aerial photography, surveillance, and videography!

Currently, there are five major firms in Singapore which provide drone services for aerial projects to the wide range of industries. One of them is Flyht Studio which claimed to have 20% more projects than the last year while domestic company Aveticshas has seen 50% increase in its projects.

Drone industry is expected to be worth over US$89 billion by next decade. In July, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew threw the light on the future of unmanned aerial industry in country with these words, “In Singapore, there is growing public interest in civilian unmanned aircraft activities for . . . commercial purposes. There are also several companies in Singapore seeking to grow the commercial unmanned aerial system industry here.”
